Colder Days, Same Game
The weather’s changing fast now. The air feels colder every morning, and by the time I head to practice, the sun is already setting behind the trees. It’s that time of year when the field lights turn on earlier and the sky turns orange and purple at the same time — kind of peaceful, but also a reminder that winter’s close.
Even though it’s colder, it somehow makes soccer feel sharper. The cool air wakes you up, the ball moves faster, and your breath turns into little clouds when you sprint. I’ve been running three miles, watching Real Madrid vs. Liverpool and PSG vs. Bayern in the Champions League, playing FIFA, going outside with my friends, and practicing at Pleasant Park. Every part of my day has something to do with soccer lately — and I love it that way.
There’s something different about playing under the lights when it’s cold. Everyone’s bundled up, the ball echoes louder on contact, and it feels like we’re all pushing a little harder to stay warm and stay in rhythm. It’s tiring, but the good kind of tired — the kind that makes you feel like you earned the day.
Yeah, the sun sets earlier now, but the game doesn’t slow down. If anything, it feels even better under the chill sky. Colder days, same game — just a new season, same love for it.
